Troubleshooting
Solutions for common problems including balance discrepancies, missing transactions, storage issues, and desktop app questions.
Paychecks and bills
Why does this bill belong to the previous paycheck?
A bill due on payday belongs to the previous paycheck window. A bill due the following day belongs to the new window. See Expected Income.
Why does Expected Income not match the actual paycheck?
A future occurrence uses its configured estimate. It becomes actual only when an eligible income transaction matches the configured payroll payee, optional account, and supported arrival window, or when the expected-income record is explicitly linked to its received transaction.
Why did future estimates stay the same after a different paycheck arrived?
The actual amount replaces only the matched occurrence. Later occurrences continue using the default estimate or their own date-specific override.
Why is a bill still showing after I funded it?
Funding reserves category money; it does not record payment. The bill remains until its occurrence is paid or manually marked paid. Funded, Paid, and Projected Covered are different statuses.
Money Timeline
Why is estimated everyday spending shown?
When enabled, the timeline reserves expected remaining flexible cash spending using the current paycheck plan and sufficient recent history. It is a forecast event, not a transaction. Turn off “Include estimated everyday spending” to compare without it.
Why does the timeline differ from total account balances?
Its starting cash uses the selected eligible Whole Plan forecast accounts, with active checking and cash as the default. Manage Accounts → In forecast can customize that selection. The timeline adds forecast income and subtracts obligations through its displayed horizon. See Money Timeline.
Local and Cloud
Why is my Local budget missing on another device?
Local devices do not automatically sync. Check the original browser profile or desktop installation, or use a backup/restore or copy workflow.
Why did switching Local or Cloud not move my budget?
Switching changes the active storage source only. Use Copy to Cloud or Copy to Local to create an independent copy.
Why was a copy skipped?
A destination budget already had the same normalized name. Existing budgets are never overwritten; keep it skipped or copy as new with another name. See Local and Cloud.
Accounts and imports
Why does a credit-card payment look like a transfer?
The purchase was the spending. Paying the card moves cash from a cash account to the card account, so the payment uses the supported transfer workflow rather than creating new spending.
Why did Ready to Budget not change after a transfer?
An ordinary transfer between Normal cash accounts conserves total Ready to Budget while changing which account backs it or the selected category money. A transfer across the Normal/On-demand boundary can change Ready to Budget participation. Check Which money moved? and its preview. A transfer is not income.
Why might an import create duplicates?
An imported file can overlap transactions entered manually or imported earlier. Review the preview and resulting transactions before reconciliation.
What should I check when my balance differs from my bank?
Compare cleared status, dates, amounts, missing fees or interest, duplicate entries, and both transfer legs. Review imports, then use Reconciliation.
